Fix 1: Removing Defective Hardware from Computer

In this method, you have to disconnect all hardware from your PC and then plug in back all components one by one will help you to identify the hardware which is causing the error on your computer. Here’s how to get this done:
- First of all, power off your complete device and its connected hardware.
- Make sure all USB ports are free from any connected device such as flash drives, printer cable, speaker cable, USB hub ports, external storage and more.
- Plug out your keyboard and mouse, if you are using a desktop.
- Now plug the keyboard and mouse back to their respective ports.
- Open the CPU panel or RAM slot panel and remove all RAMs but leave one of them. If your device has a single RAM then leave this step.

Fix 2: Using the ChkDsk Command

To check and repair a bad hard drive, you can use the CHKDSK utility developed by Microsoft. Many users have solved the FAT FILE SYSTEM error by using the CHKDSK utility. Here is how to solve the FAT FILE SYSTEM error via CHKDSK:
- If you can access the Safe Mode on your computer then see step 10.
- In case you are not able to use the Safe Mode then access Advanced Repair Options on your PC and then see step 10.
- If Advanced Repair Options cannot be accessed then make a Windows Installation Media using the Rufus tool.
- Once the Windows Installation Media created, turn off your PC which is showing the FAT FILE SYSTEM error. Plugin the Windows Installation Media and boot your computer from it. You can do that by changing the boot preference in the BIOS menu.
- When the Windows installation wizard appears, press on Next.
- Tap the Repair your computer option from the bottom-left corner.
- After that, press the Troubleshoot button.
- Now head to Advanced option in the troubleshooting wizard.
- Navigate to Command Prompt.
- Inside the Command Prompt window, type the chkdsk /f /r command.
- Hit the Enter key.
- When asked for confirmation, press the Y key to allow the system to restart the device once the operation completes.
